How can I check if VMware player tools are installed?

I have Linux Mint 16 Petra installed  as a guest on my windows xp host. I have tried numerous times to install tools. I have no idea how to check if tools are in fact installed. There were some issues that showed up in the terminal window while the installation was in progress. I have no idea if these problems resolved themselves.

These were the "issues":

1. Warning: No support for locale: en_US.utf8

2. The vmxnet driver is no longer supported on kernels 3.3 and greater. Please
upgrade to a newer virtual NIC. (e.g., vmxnet3 or e1000e)

3. Detected X server version 1.14.3

Distribution provided drivers for Xorg X server are used.

Skipping X configuration because X drivers are not included.

At the end, it said that the tools have installed successfully.

I have no idea if the tools installed properly despite those issues during installation.

Under Player/Manage the line says "Reinstall VMWare tools...."

How do I find the tools??

How do I access a "shared folder" that I created and enabled in the options tab in the Virtual Machine Settings?
