Dear Team,
We have found one of the VM in a hang state on Monday morning. While checking for root cause for VM Server Hang issue we found in the System EventLog, repeated errors for “Event ID – 129, Source - LSI_SAS, Error - Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.” Please find the enclosed file for your reference
Further troubleshooting revealed that the error could be due
to a known issue as per http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2063346
Please find the current version details.
ESXi Version: ESX5.1 U1
VM Hardware Version: 9
Guest OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit
Current LSI_SAS driver version : 1.28.3.52
Recommended LSI_SAS driver version:
instead of upgrading LSI_SAS driver to latest one i will prefer a work around which is mentioned in above KB , before that just want to confirm will there any impact (data loss etc..)if I configure the virtual machine to use the VMware Para virtual SCSI driver for existing data disk and OS disk???
Need ur urgent assistance on the same.
regards
Mr VMware
