VMware disk I/O issue with Oracle Linux guest x86_64 and Windows 8.1 host (64bit)

Hi All

I am using VMware workstation 10. When I start my Oracle Linux 5.6 machine on it, the disk utilization goes to 100% and hangs the whole system.

I see only two processes eating the I/O. The system process is "NT System and Kernel".

However, if I run Windows 64 bit OS on the guest machine, no such issue occurs.

I tried almost everything I found on the internet related to this, but to no avail.

Please help here.
