We have following requirements for several projects.
Old SCADA system running on W3K+SQL2000, having several WinXP clients with up to 4 Monitors.
The application is not scaleable and requires a fixed resolution defined during design.
Up to now there is no replacement solution for this SCADA system except a costly total redesign of the plants.
The idea: Creating for each server/client an appliance in VSphere 6 in a rather protected enviroment an accessing the application
via RDP or TeamViewer - It's working very satisfying, except..
The problem: I got the WinXP Client appliances to show the right numbers of monitors with the expected resolution
e.g. 2 monitors with 1680x1050, in the WinXP screen properties, but
1) I can't expand the windows desktop onto the second - I can set the mark in the property page, I even get asked if I want to activate the second monitor
But when I reopen the screen resolution property then expansion of windows desktop is not marked again.
2) RDP and TeamViewer always show only one monitor
All systems have the latest patchlevel (ESX u2, VMWare Tools,..), I fiddled around with video memory, optional svga settings in the vmx, WinXP registry, with no success
Anybody knows a tweak?
