A Windows 7 Pro SP1 guest running on VMware Workstation 12 Player (12.1.1 build-3770994) shows continuously a 100% use of one core, even while idle. This happens independently of how many cores (1 or 2) are assigned to the VM.The windows process responsible of this high use is svchost.exe which is a process of the windows system, however this does not happens on other physical machines running windows. Host runs OpenSuse 12.3 x86_64.
Is there any way to reduce this heavy use? I have seen some messages relating these symptoms to an incorrect HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) configuration (https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1077) but have not been able to find the way to solve it.
