MS Cluster in a box vs. Cluster out of the box

I've been doing some reading on the 2 MS clustering options in VMware (in a box and out of the box).   We have vSphere5.0 and vCenter 5.0.   If I read the documents correctly,  If I go with :

Cluster In a Box:   I can use iSCSI SAN or local or VMDK disks

Cluster Out of the Box:  I can only use Fibre Channel SAN

is that correct?
