Vmware workstation 12.5.9 on opensuse leap 15.1

Given that the latest Vmware Workstation does not work anymore in older CPU architectures and we are forced to used older versions (in this case 12.5.9); it is starting to show problems with newest kernels.

I updated to Opensuse Leap 15.1 and while the installation completes with no errors.

VMplayer will not start, there seems to be a problem with libraries.

 

/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-modconfig: Relink `/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libbsd.so.0' with `/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/librt.so.1' for IFUNC symbol `clock_gettime'

 

I have tried most of the suggestion and re-builds on other forums but I am just stuck.

After recompiling, there is no message but the application fails to start.

 

Has anybody found a solution to this problem??

Or I am required to upgrade my computer just to get my virtual machine back.

After compiling and trying to re-start vmware this is what happens (not sure how to solve the Blocking file system failure)

 

Stopping VMware services:
   VMware Authentication Daemon                                        done

   Virtual machine communication interface                             done

   Blocking file system                                                done
Starting VMware services:
   Virtual machine monitor                                             done

Setup Public IP VM-Player-15 Ubuntu guest

I am using VM Player 15.5.1 on Win10 Pro host, using Ubuntu 18.04 guest, I am on my home network  How do I setup public IP.

 

Right now in my /etc/netplan/50-cloud-init.yaml

network:

    ethernets:

        ens33:

            dhcp4: true

    version: 2

64bitOSのサポートに関して

Thinkpad X1 Carbon

Intel i7 10710

Windows10 Pro

VMPlayer15.5.1

 

という環境下で64bitOSの仮想化ができません。

 

仮想マシンの作成時に、

『64ビットのゲストOSは、このOSではサポートされていないため、起動できません。』

という表記が出てしまいます。

 

IntelVT等の仮想化に必要と言われるBIOS設定はされています。

Hyper-Vでは問題なく64bitOSの仮想化ができています。

 

VMPlayerではそれ以外になにか必要な設定等あるのでしょうか？

ご教示いただければと思います。

Migrating traditional SQL server cluster to new SAN

We are running Biztalk 2013 R2 on an Active/Active 2-node traditional Windows 2012 server cluster on VMWare.

 

All LUNS are physical RDM's attached to EMC XtremeIO.

 

Is it possible or recommended to present new LUNS from new NetApp SAN and migrate cluster?

 

Or is building a new cluster and re-pointing Biztalk a better alternative?

 

First option seems to reduce amount of Biztalk work which would be good.

Traffic net only with 100MB on interface hardware gigabit

Hello

 

I have vmware Esxi 5.1 hypervisor, on this installed with firewalls 3 guest  2 so guest OpenBSD 5.8, 6.6 and third a FreeBSD 9.1, the hardware have 4 nics all Gigabit model realtek or tplink 8168,  i'm install the vmware tools em all machines guest , and i set driver net of vmware the vmxnet3, too i have 1 link internet of 140Mb, but not traffic more than 40 or 50Mb, i belive that of the vmware and guest recognize of the nic and interfaces with gigabit, however traffic only the 100MB but this when apply test speedtest internet don't pass of 50Mb, more details I do varios tests conected with modem of the provider direct in other machine not virtualized and my velocity arrive 140Mb of download

 

I'like help full of  you about this problem, i search in the google but no find anything about this problem.

Centos 8 Display Resolution Persistence

Greetings,

 

Just installed Centos 7 guest.    Go into the GDM gui display and set at 2560x1600.

Reboot.   Comes back at the new resolution.

 

Install Centos 8 guest.   Set display at 2560x1600.   Reboot.   And it returns to

the old resolution.

 

Resolution?

Upgrading OS on existing VMWare Worstation image

I am using VMWare WorkStation 15.5 and I have a Windows 10 Pro Image I created. The question is:

Can I upgrade Only the OS on this image from Windows 10 to Windows Server 2016 Standard??? I have a bunch of stuff on the Windows 10 image including activations that I don't want to loose.

Does anybody know if I can Upgrade the OS on the image without starting from scratch?????

Your help or answer is greatly appreciated!

Fusion 11.5 - Windows 10 doesn't start - can't repair bootblock

Hi,

my Mac crashed and since then my Windows 10 VM doesn't start anymore. (other VMs like Win7 and Ubuntu still work).

I get error 0xc0000225  Windows/system32/config/system

 

then i started a windows iso to get into repair mode.

Automatic repair fails, this i get into the command line mode:

 

List disks show

Disk     Status  Space   Free   Dyn  GPT

Disk 0  Online  57 GB   4100MB

 

 

So seems to have MBR

 

List Volumes

 

Volume 0   E  CCCOMA_X64F   UDF  DVD-ROM   4497MB

Volume 1  D  System-resefver   NTFS  Partition  549 MB

Volume 2  C                               NTFS  Partiton 52 GB

 

all are free of errors.

 

What i tried is to repair the MBR

bootrec /fixmbr-> works

 

bootrec /fixboot -> access denied

 

bootrec /scanos -> no Windows identified...

 

So what are my options to get windows 10 booted again.

 

All data is available on my C drive, chkdsk ends with no error and i  see all my data there...

 

So one option is to install it new and migrate my data, but are there any tools available?

 

I also tried using DaRT10 x64 to fix my Windows ...

Windows 10 Virtual Machine on vSphere/vCenter

Good Morning,

 

I am currently running vSphere Version 5.0.0 Build 623373 and vCenter Version 5.0.0 Build 455964.

 

I am trying to create a Windows 10 Virtual Machine but upon reboot I am receiving a BlueScreen with the following error code: HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED

 

I receive this error whenever I upgrade from our Windows 7 machine and also when created a new VM and booting straight to the ISO.

ethernet doesn't have a valid ip configuration

Hello, I'm completely new to VMware. I just created a new VM and i'm trying to get it connected to the internet. It currently says "Ethernet0 doesn't have a valid IP Configuration".

 

Tried to going into the command prompt to did:

  • netsh winsock reset
  • netsh int IP reset

 

Disabled the ethernet and re-enabled it, still not connecting

- says that i have limited connection.

 

Am i missing anything within the settings of the VM?

 

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

vmx-zdump.001 reading tool

Web client logs show that 2 Virtual machines were shutdown and the logs are in the files vmx-zdump.001 on the ESXi server. I have the files copied to a windows PC but when I open it using notepad after extraction , the format is not readable. I have tried to use vmss2core but it doesn't help.

Can some one help me with a tool that I can use to open this file in readable format?

did "shutdown -r now" on centOS client and now won't boot. Any way to recover? :)

I'm just learning Linux (CentOS) and I did a "shutdown -r now" i.e. reboot command, in Terminal, and .... it didn't reboot. It gets a long way, looks like it's trying to start GNOME up, but never completes.

 

I'm guessing you aren't supposed to use shutdown commands when running inside VMWare?

 

Anyway, it's no biggie, I can just create a new virtual machine if necessary, but before doing that, I was wondering it there was a way to recover the situation.

VM Local account password reset

Yesterday I ran into a problem with one of our master image VMs. Booted it up from Vsphere and connected to it through the console, singing in with our AD admin account and I get the following message:"The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship." and "The trust relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed." And this seems to be a authentication error with connecting to our AD.

So I went on troubleshooting this and looking though forums to fix this, and I would just need to log in with my local account and reconnect with the AD.

 

But here is my problem, I cannot log in to any local account - says it is the wrong password, and I'm 100% sure it is the right one. I've tried every account username/password I could think of, and none of them work, I tried with just administrator and password blank, and it says "This account has been disabled, please contact your administrator".

 

So is there a way for me to reset or remake the local administrator account with a new password through Vsphere?

Error load dll file on vm esxi

Hello all,

I try install application for hotel "Material Control" on ESXI 6.7 U3 and win is Win10, server 2008, 2012 and 2016 (x64) but I get same error. and also try install on physical device have win 10, win server 2016 and work fine not get error in attached.

Any solution to resolve this error.

VDI Users see apps moving between screens when locking and unlocking workstations

We have a floating non persistent windows 10 pool. When our users with multiple monitors lock their workstations and come back, their session is still live but when they unlock their apps move to the opposite screen and resize. Has anyone seen this? Is there a fix?

Trying to update Quicken 2017 in Windows 7 thru Fusion 8.5.10 on my Mac OS El Cap 10.11.6. Can't download it. The update is more like a license to continue to download bank info through Quicken. Without it the Quicken app is useless to me.
